Medical Facilities
 
     A dispensary, hospital and doctors residence are part of the planned medical complex on Rongelap. 
 
The dispensary includes a reception desk and doctor's consultation room. Additional facilities are a medical laboratory, linen storage room, medical/drug supply rooms, darkroom and out-patient bathrooms. A day procedures room includes a surgical table.

In-patient care is handled in the four 2-bed wards at the dispensary which also includes bathroom and shower facilities.
 
The Doctors Residence is a 3-bedroom home attached to the dispensary.
 
     The Department of Energy maintains a state-of-the-art facility and staff to monitor the island population for radiation levels. 

Everyone on island for extended periods of time is tested at regular intervals but no significant levels of Cesium-137 have been detected.
