Tourism is an important part of the Rongelap Atoll Government plan for the future.  Our new tourism center is open and we hope to bring visitors to Rongelap where they can enjoy some of the best reef diving and salt water fishing in the world. 

Rongelap Atoll and the surrounding islands have been uninhabited for many years and is now home to possibly the most pristine waters in the world.  The shallow reefs and deep ocean of the atolls teem with underwater life that promises great adventure for fishing and diving enthusiasts from around the world.  The people of Rongelap are building their new community and with it an adventure in scuba diving, sport fishing and Eco-tourism that will contribute to their future.

Land-Based Activities

Rongelap Atoll has unique and significant sites where the visitors can experience and learn the ancient folklores, history and the rich culture of the local people. Rongelap is the only island in the outer island with paved roads on both the lagoon and the ocean side. Our visitors will be able to enjoy the smooth ride as they tour the Island. There are bicycles available for the guests to use, an air-conditioned 4-door pickup truck to go around the island.

Our cultural enrichment programs includes visits to the significant landmarks on Rongelap like the Church, the nesting ground on Ailingnae, and other ancient figurative icons on the main island as well as the nearby isles. We also offer other fun activities like camping and picnicking on some of our famous beaches like Jeton Beach, named after late Senator Jeton Anjain, and Bigler Beach Park named after Noel Bigler.

Sea Excursions

If you are a water sports enthusiast, and an avid diver seeking the perfect destination, Rongelap is definitely the place to be. There are unprecedented species of corals, fishes and other marine species waiting to be discovered. Daily activities include snorkeling, diving, fishing and swimming.  Kayaks are available (free of charge) for the guests to use.
