It's been a long journey home for the people of Rongelap Atoll but major progress in the Resettlement Project has turned hope into reality.

In the near future, the first families will settle in their new homes and begin the job of rebuilding their community.

The Rongelap Atoll is one of the 29 atolls and 5 islands in the central Pacific region that make up the Republic of the Marshall Islands (RMI). The land area of Rongelap Atoll consists of 61 islets with a combined area of approximately 3 square miles. The lagoon covers 388 square miles.
